The LOC is charged with primary responsibility for establishing, managing, and reviewing policy toward, and relations with, the Collegiate Licensing Company and all licensees. The committee makes recommendations to the president regarding the University's relationships with the CLC and individual licensees. These recommendations can result in actions taken by the University. Periodically, correspondence or other documents related to these actions will be made available here.

During the 2003-'04 academic year, the LOC began evaluating the potential benefits of asking licensees to help develop a system for publicly disclosing the compensation levels of workers in factories that manufacture University apparel. Other universities are evaluating this approach as well. On April 15, 2004, the chair of the LOC wrote to Georgetown's largest apparel manufacturers asking to begin a dialogue on this matter.
On April 30, 2004, the LOC members presented on Georgetown's approach to public wage disclosure at a meeting of universities associated with the Worker Rights Consortium. A draft of the following document was handed out.
LOC Response to the Code of Conduct Enforcement Initiative of United Students Against Sweatshops
During the Fall 2005 semester, the Licensing Oversight Committee carefully reviewed the Code of Conduct Enforcement Initiative of United Students Against Sweatshops [PDF]. On December 23, 2005, the Committee found that that the proposal contains Guiding Principles and Strategies to which the University is committed. The Committee looks forward to working with other stakeholders on the Initiative.
